Make a Splash: Summer Reading Program 2010

June 7 to July 30, 2010

Make a SplashLooking for something fun to do this summer?  Patrons of all ages are invited to join our “Make a Splash” Summer Reading Program, which runs from June 7th  to July 30th  at all Palm Beach County Library System locations.  Our program and special events will encourage you to make a splash and read!

How to participate:

  • Children: sign up at the Youth Services Desk and receive a reading log, a pencil and a copy of The Soggy Sentinel, featuring jokes, word games and more. Complete 10 hours of reading to receive a super incentive and two tickets to the July 30th Jupiter Hammerheads game (while supplies last). Check out the Children's Summer Reading Program page here.
  • Teens: sign up at the Youth Services Desk for our young adult “Reading Frenzy” and receive a reading log and a pencil. Complete 16 hours of reading to receive a cool prize and two tickets to the July 30th Jupiter Hammerheads game (while supplies last). Check out the Teens Summer Reading Program page here.
  • Adults: sign up at the Reference Desk and receive a reading log, a bookmark, a specially-themed pocket poncho, and a buy one, get one free breakfast sandwich coupon from Panera Bread (while supplies last).  Participate in our weekly drawings for a chance to win water-themed books. Read and/or listen to five books/audio-books to receive a deluxe sports water bottle and two tickets to the July 30th Jupiter Hammerheads game (while supplies last).

Master magician Gary Midnight will delight children with his mesmerizing illusions. Grades K & up. (45 min.)

Orlando’s Mr. Richard performs original songs, accompanying himself on guitar, harmonica, mandolin, and ukulele in sing-along tunes about fire trucks, skunks, the garbage man, and girl pilots. Grades K & up. (45 min.) Preregister.

Join Patty for a fun sing-along and dance-along with music from your favorite TV shows, as well as her own interactive original songs. Grades preschool & up. (45 min.) Preregister.
