Back To Space! - Great Books on NASA

With the successful flight of the space shuttle Discovery, NASA has returned to its mission of manned space flight.  This is a good time to reflect back on the history of the American space program, from its early days of dangerous test flights through the Apollo missions, all the way to the current shuttle program.  Below are a selection of fine books owned by the library system.  Simply click on the book cover or the title to see if your local library has a copy on hand.  If not, simply place a hold for the book and it will be delivered to your library.

What begins as a smooth flight is transformed into a hair-raising voyage from the moment Lovell calls out, "Houston, we've got a problem". Minutes after the explosion, the astronauts are forced to abandon the main ship for the lunar module, a tiny craft designed to keep two men alive for just two days. But there are three men aboard, and they are four days from home.
