Palm Beach County Library System: Families Reading Together 2011 |
 |
Check out the special events below:
|
|
When the children go back to school, a group of farm animals head into town to find something to do. They end up at a place with many happy faces – the library, of course!
Introducing the book to your child:
Before you start reading the book, ask your child to look at the cover. Read the title and point out the names of the author and the illustrator. Ask “What does the cover tell us about the story?” Tell them that an author writes books and the illustrator creates the pictures.
Follow-up Activities:
- Check out books from the library on animals, reading, and libraries.
- Talk about what kinds of things we can do when we feel bored, including
indoor and outdoor activities.
- The animals in the book find a place with happy faces. Have your child draw,
or help them cut out from magazines, pictures of the things that make them happy.

Families Reading Together: Pine Jog Teen Photography/Recycled Book Art Exhibit |
|
Teens were not left out of all the fun of our 8th Annual Families Reading Together Campaign. High school photography students were asked to submit photographs that captured the theme “Book! Book! Book! : The Nature of Reading.” In addition to the photographs, several library teen groups captured the theme of reducing, reusing and recycling through Recycled Book Art. A reception was held at the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center’s Gallery for the teens, their teachers and their families. |
