ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am a photographer who shoots in a photojournalistic or documentary style. I generally shoot found situations as opposed to situations that I create.
I am for pictures that cry, shout, laugh, whisper and hug- pictures that reveal all aspects of the human condition.
I’m for pictures that celebrate the lives of those pictured and tell the most amazing stories about those everyday people walking among us.
I’m for pictures that create tension and sound like nails scratching a chalkboard. I’m for those pictures that speak a truth when the world is in denial.
I’m for beautiful pictures too- clean, simple, lovely images that smell like lavender, pictures you want to roll around in hoping some will rub off on you.
I believe in searching for pictures and in living in the tension that exists when you endeavor after an image that you never seem to get. I’m for trying, failing and trying again. I’m also for smiling when you finally get one you like.
I’m for swimming in life. A camera and a diving board are the same. I’m for pictures that show you what you don’t normally see, pictures that put mirrors in our world in the small, unknown spaces.
I’m for pictures that speak every language. These are the pictures I want to take. |
