Seminole and Bobcat

An Everglades hammock campsite is depicted in this exhibit.  The male Seminole wears a typical tunic ("big shirt") once common male clothing worn with or without leggings or trousers.  This tunic was presented to Lawrence E. Will by Chief Billy Bowlegs, the Third, last Chief of the Seminole Nation.

This exhibit is a community project: The tunic accouterments derive from  Paul Orsenigo's Eagle Scout "Order of the Arrow" Regalia.  The Bobcat was mounted by Troy Tyler.  The Wall Mural was designed and painted by Belle Glade artist Ann Spann Tyler.  The terrain was created by Jane Schoenfeld, Dorinda Shutts, and Ann Spann Tyler.  The typical "Pine Lighterwood" campfire wheel was collected from the "Big Cypress" area by Joseph R. Orsenigo.

The exhibit was designed, built, assembled, and finished by: West Technical Education Center.  Building Maintenance and Utility Management #8721360, Joe Strapp and students Ronald Amedee, Jean Benjamin, Marcus Calloway, Reginald Hamilton, Domingo Marins,Clayton Swenson, Jeff Altman, Joe Guerry Jr., Joseph R. Orsenigo, and Edwin R. Rice.  Logistic and Materiel Support were provided by: Brooker Glass Company, Everglades Trading Company, Seminole Supply Company, and City of Belle Glade Buildings and Grounds Department.
